FAQ What is required to marry in Bermuda? The Bermuda Government requires a completed "Notice of Intended Marriage" which must be filed at least 15 days prior to the date of the wedding and no longer than three months before the date. This form must be signed by the Bride or the Groom. If either party is divorced, a photocopy of the final Divorce Decree should accompany the "Notice". A Bank Draft for US$243, payable to the Accountant General should also be filed with the Notice. No blood tests are required for marriage in Bermuda. Is my marriage legal in the United States? Yes, the marriage is legal and recognized as such. You may wish to register the marriage at your local city or town hall once you receive your official registered marriage certificate. This certificate will be sent within three weeks of the wedding. Are witnesses required? Yes, the Government requires two witness. They must be at least 18 years of age unless approved by the Minister performing the ceremony. The Wedding Salon Ltd. will provide witnesses for you if you are "eloping". What happens if it rains? We will always have a back-up plan for you. Sometimes the rain passes quickly and we can resume the original plan but if the rain continues, we can have the wedding indoors or under cover or in a small percentage of the weddings, we can try to move the ceremony to the next day. How long do I have to be in Bermuda before we can get married? There is no residency requirement in Bermuda. You may be married once you step off the plane if you wish. Can we get married in Church?
